Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Where is this man, the time is going on, Mr. Speaker. . .

Walter R. Shaw: Yes it is and you are not making much headway either.

Frank Myers: Mr. Speaker, I think you should say, “Amen”, and sit down. (Laughter and Applause).

Walter R. Shaw: No. “Amen” means “so be it” and I wouldn't agree with that.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Well, then, there is one in that organiza-

, tion that you did criticize, because Mr. Scales and all the Directors were appointed

by you people, don’t forget. They have two good men, two of the finest men there.

They have Mr. Flood; he is Chairman and I think probably he gets the highest salary in the province from government sources.

J. David Stewart: He is a member of the “over twenty” club.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: He is a member of the “over twenty” club, and he is well worth the money. He is doing a fine job trying to help us straighten out the mess.

Walter R. Shaw: Nearly as good as Bobby ..... isn’t he?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: And then his assistant, Mr. Speaker, who is criticized. I think that this man is the one you referred to who has come from the West Indies, also appointed by the Directors which in turn were appointed by the then Opposition. Directors with whom we meet weekly; Directors in whom we have the fullest confidence, and in whom we place no question on the character and the responsibility of this young man they have hired from Ottawa to come down here and help in the Industrial Development of this province. We don’t question their ap- pointment because we know what they are doing. We go along with them one- :undred percent and try to defend whatever amount of money that is being paid to

Leo F. Rossiter: Mr. Premier, would you permit a question? Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Yes. Leo F. Rossiter: Was there any Islanders interviewed for that job?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: I can get that information. This would be a matter for Industrial Enterprises.

Leo F. Rossiter: You can get the information. Will you get it?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Yes, I certainly will. Are you looking for a job yourself or have you got somebody in mind?

Robert E. Campbell: They wouldn’t trust him anymore.

Walter R. Shaw: Do those co-ordinators go through any examinations?

Leo F. Rossiter: I asked you a civil question and I expect a civil answer. Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Yes, Sir, I will get the information.

Leo F. Rossiter: You will get the information?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: But I can tell you we are a lucky province to have that man. He was with ARDA in Ottawa and he knows the program inside out, which qualifies this province for assistance on grants to fishing centres, to fish- ing equipment, to industry.

Leo F. Rossiter: Just a minute now, just a minute. Fishing equipment. Does this cover fishing equipment?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Freezing units. Leo R. Rossiter: Freezing units? _59_
