would be encouraged in this work they will have something to do. They will not be idle, for “Satan finds evil work for idle hands to do.”

Next is Senior Citizens and Chronic Care Centers. I am very pleased to see that the Chronic Care Center has been started in Montague. This was a project of the for- mer Government. The land was already bought for the site of this, very sorry this has been turned down, but anyway we see where we are etting a Chronic Care Center at this time with an additional cost of another lot at 7,700. I hope the Members that decided on shifting lots read the fine print of the contract for the previous lot, if it was

not used for this project, would go right back to the owner.

Total landings of sea products have increased by 34%. This again is our fish- eries in the Province, a very important item in Prince Edward Island, fisheries, be- cause of the enormous number of people employed during the summer. especially dur- ing the summer. hit our lobster industry in the past few years has declined some. But in the year 1965, the price being exceptionally good, it will probably realize more money in the Province in 1965 than we had for a good few years previous. But in 1966 the price was considerably lower. We are hoping for a better price this year and this will probably bring our income from the fisheries considerably higher than it has been

in years past.

A new Fishermen’s Loan Act; there has been a Fishermen's Loan Act in the Province for quite a number of years, but this is a new Fishermen’s Loan Act which is vital to the industry. Loans are good if they are carried out in the right way. Some of them have been abused in the past and no doubt will be in the future, but I think if this is a new Loan Act, and we can help our fishermen in any way, we will be well ad-

vised to do so.

“Intensified range of fisheries projects.” Well now this is something that we must at all times be interested in, in new projects, in the expansion of fisheries.

“Cold Storage facilities will be made readily available to our fishing industry." I think, Mr. Speaker, that this is something we are lacking in this Province, adequate cold storage facilities for fisheries. As we all know people must have fresh bait in the summer of the year and when they get this fresh bait to their fishing community, very often a storm comes up and they can’t use it that day and it is lost to the fishermen. This is a great loss to the fishermen because if they cannot use it on the day that they take it to the fishing village, they lose it, because they have no adequate facilities for storing it there to keep it until the next day. I think we should make every effort for to supply more cold storage facilities for our fishermen for the bait that they must

have.

“My Ministers inform me that much time and effort has been devoted to the province’s industrial development”; not quite enough. On March 16th on the 7:00 P.M. news I happened to be listening and heard that in Nova Scotia in the past year they have twenty-five new major industries. Now, Mr. Speaker. just in our neighboring province of Nova Scotia in the past year, they have set up twenty-five new major in- dustries and I don’t think we have one!

Some Member: Supposed to.

Preston D. MacLure: Supposed to, that wasn’t very good. I am not going to mention that, that is beyond mentioning, closing the plant. There have been no new ones opened, but I think we should make more effort, Mr. Speaker, to have more in- dustry in this province to keep our young people after they are educated for work at those projects, Industrial Development on the Island. I think, Mr. Speaker, there is a great need for new industries and we must go ahead, we must go forward, we must not look back, we must go forward with all speed that we possibly can to employ our

le of this province, to keep them at home if we possibly can, and give them jobs. Now, Mr. Speaker, I would just make a note of this at this time, we have this mom- ing lost a young farmer from the Montague district to Expo for the summer. He said yesterday evening, when he was going to leave this morning, he said yesterday even~ ing, I am going to work at Expo for the summer. I will know the first of November whether I will come back to the farm at all or not. This is a promising young farmer of a good farming district, and this was his comment last night when I was talking to him. He would know at the first of November whether he would come back to the farm or not. Now, Mr. Speaker, we must make it more attractive for those young
