“Improving of parks in the Province”; we hear a rest deal of talk of parks . . . improving parks, new parks, and what have you. We ope you will continue in all speed to improve the facilities of the :arks for the people that visit the Province every summer. We must have expansion an improvement of parks to encourage more people to visit the Island while the opportunity is only for two months of the summer. But we still must have great improvements and new parks, if at all possible with our resources.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Mr. Speaker, I wonder if the Honourable Member would allow a question. You are not against the Brudenell Park?

Preston D. MacLure: Not in the least bit. I am all for anything in Kings County or any part of the Province, especially Kings County. (Applause)

I know a great many will be attending Expo in the coming year, but we hope this does not take people away from visiting Prince Edward Island. It has been sug- gested that we will have a greater influx of tourists in Prince Edward Island this year than we have had in other years because of Expo in Montreal. We hope that this will be the case, Mr. Speaker, and that everyone is encouraged to visit Prince Edward Is- land, supposing it is for only part of their holiday after visiting Expo this summer.

“Dining and Food facilities.” In Prince Edward Island, I think the food services that tourists find here are fairly good. There may be a few instances where this could be brought up to a little higher standard, but in all, I think that we have fairly good dining facilities for the tourists and others in Prince Edward Island.

An 18-hole lf course, this is the part that I like to come to, an 18-hole golf course at Brudenel Park is now under construction; that is ood. That is a good thing. I do not think there is anything wrong with this at all. Any ody that wants to go out and chase a ball around a field, he is quite welcome to go. But it is not for me. Any- way this is good recreation for the people that like this type of recreation. I am very pleased to see that the first one that the Government has built will be in Third Kings.

“-Rural Beautification Society and Division of Rural and Urban Beautification.” This has a great effect on the tourists of Prince Edward Island; if we have our rural areas cleaned u and fixed up, they might look like the “Picture Province”. We must try and train al people to clean up and fix up especially being Centennial Year.

“A program to film in color an account of our Province’s Centennial Year." This, I take, will be shown all over Canada and the United States and other Countries after it is filmed. We will hardly need to see the film ourselves, although it would be nice to see. We can see the beauty of the Province at any time, we can see the beauty of this Province every year; it is not so beautiful right now all covered with snow, but I think once the green grass comes and the beauty of the Province shows up, we will indeed enjoy it much more after the long period of heavy snow.

Now, there is another; “effective De artment of Labour"; now I do not agree that the Department has been effective to ate. I said a few words on this the other day that there was a great ado before the election about $1.25 minimum wage for every male and female worker in the Province. But to-day, since the election, two hund- red and sixty some days, we have not seen very much progress in this Department. The only thing that I see is that they have changed the name to Manpower Resources or Department of Manpower I think it is called.

“Canadian National Railway strike at Borden.” This is nothing to laugh over this strike business at Borden. This is a serious situation, has been in the years past and there must be some way that this can be overcome. I am sure that eve one on both sides of the House would agree to work in co-operation to see that this oes not happen, like happened last fall which probably did justify our tourists leavin the Province. Tourists have only so long to stay; they must get back to their jobs. and you could not blame them for trying to get out of the Province before the strike began. This lost us an untold thousands of dollars.

“Vacation Act Pay.” Some of us have a vacation and some of us do not, so I understand that this means that everybody will get a paid vacation. I don’t know whe- ther we will or not.

“Winter Works program; Government has again participated in the Winter Works program.” “To encourage and promote the further beautification of the Prov-
