Honourable George J. Ferguson: I must comment on the Leader of the Opposi- tion’s remarks; I am just referring to them and I want to set the record straight. This is all, this is the only reason I mention it. Where was I though?

Prince Edward Island 129.5, which is an increase of almost $45.00. Newfound- land is next with 126.4; Nova Scotia with 121.2; New Brunswick, 120.3; Quebec, 70.1; Ontario, 21.7; Manitoba. 53.9; Saskatchewan, 50.8; Alberta, 24.9; British Columbia, 20.3.

Walter R. Shaw: I wonder if I might ask my honourable friend if he would quote the per capita figures for 1965 under the old system comparing that with the other provinces.

Honourable George J. Ferguson: I am sorry, Mr. Speaker, I don’t have those figures. I just have them for 1966-1967, and for 1967-1968.

Walter R. Shaw: Thank you very much. All right, it is not important.

Honourable George J. Ferguson: Now as I said, Mr. Speaker, I think this will set the record straight.

Now, Sir, since July 28th it has been my responsibility to finish a season’s road building program that had been previously planned by the former administration who apparently knew at that time that an election was to be called. This tremendously ambitious program obviously designed in a desperate effort to ward off defeat at the polls required a great deal of effort to complete. However, I am happy to re- port in spite of the delay in the change of Government we were reasonably successful in our efforts. Few of the various projects that had been started .....

Walter R. Shaw: What delay '2 Honourable George J. Ferguson: May to July.

J. Russell Driscoll: Mr. Speaker, would the honourable gentleman permit a question?

Honourable George J. Ferguson: Certainly I will.

J. Russell Driscoll: Is it your intention Sir to pave the two miles on the 48 Road this coming summer that you didn’t get a chance to do last year?

Honourable George J. Ferguson: Well, Sir, that is a matter of government pol- icy. (Laughter) However, as well during that period we managed to add to the pro-

construction projects of our own which I am sure would not have been carried out had not a change of government taken place.

Walter R. Shaw: But you cancelled some others though. Honourable George J. Ferguson: This is true; I didn’t think possibly .....

Keith S. Harrington: I wonder if the honourable member would permit a ques- tion? I was wondering if he got a petition from the people of St. Philip?

Honourable George J. Ferguson: Mr. Speaker, I can assure the honourable gent- leman from Third Prince I not only had one, I am sure I have had about three dozen.

Keith S. Harrington: I was just wondering, Honourable Minister, if . . . . .

Honourable George J. Ferguson: They want it next year. It is next year they are looking for it.

Keith S. Harrington: Didn’t they ask for it in that petition? Honourable George J. Ferguson: I don’t think that I ever had . . . .

Walter R. Shaw: Mr. Speaker, I would like to assure the Minister that he is at Sdect llliberty to aim anything he likes at me now. I am not going to say another we tonig t.

Honourable George J. Ferguson: Thank you. .401...
