no Minister ever made an appeal to Ottawa to have this covered under ARDA, and when I made the appeal and put my program forward why they said, “You should have been getting this for years, other provinces have been getting it." So that now we are going to get approximately 50% of all the capital cost and maintenance cost of all the provincial parks covered under ARDA because an effort was made for our province.

Leo F. Rossiter: We got 50% of the land before, you know.

Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell: That’s right you had 50% of the cost of the land which happened to be $60.00 on the acre.

Leo F. Roasiter: How much does the federal people cover you in the golf courses now 1’

Honourable M. Lorne Bonncll: At least 50%, and we hope 70%. Leo F. Rossiter: Have you got an agreement?

Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell: Agreement is in the process and we can certain- ly havedan1 agreement under ARDA, but we are trying to get it under FRED which is a 70% ea .

Leo F. Rossiter: (Remark inaudible).

Walter R. Shaw: I think about $450,000 was spent, was devoted to ARDA . . . Now it wasn't altogether in connection with the parks, but it was in connection with other matters. Dams and water supply.

Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell: Mr. Leader of the Opposition you are right, but your Minister at that time should have advised you that you to make a claim for your parks and got another $50,000 from Ottawa. But you didn’t know; you can’t follow every Department of Government. You did well to look after the job as Premier.

Walter R. Shaw: We will look into that. Honourable M. Lorne House“: You look into that. Honourable Robert E. Campbell: He didn’t know what he was doing.

Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell: But your advisors did not keep you posted on the advantages this province could have taken under the federal program which was there before you.

Walter R. Shaw: Remember that there has been a development in these pro- grams since then, you know, in which they have opened up and loosened up the amount that is coming into the province from ARDA.

Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell: I realize all that, I realize all that.

Leo F. Rossiter: This FRED business, what’s that?

Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell: FRED is a new program which is coming out Federal Resources Economic Development or something.

Walter R. Shaw: That’s FREDA isn’t it? Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell: Federal Rural Economic Development. Several Members: (Remarks inaudible).

Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell: Aw, the Senior Member from First Queens, I know, I know, Mr. Senior Member, I am not so confused as that.

(Applause) .

Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell: I think that is all I will say about Tourist De- velopment 'because the hour is getting late and there are better speakers and I want to talk a few words about Welfare. But I want to say a few words about the Junior Member from First Queens since he said something and it is this. Last year while we sat in this Session I met the then Premier, and I said, “Mr. Premier you should resign! you are an honourable man and you will go down in history as an honourable man, as
