Legislative Assembly fellows and have their Second District in an awful condition, they went about their business, they never said a word, they didn't accept some of fee invitations that came after the time limit was available to appear on television, or radio or anything like that. They just went about their business like they always did, trying to do something for the people down there rather than raising their voices Kith a lot of words and that bark that they sailed came safely ashore without too much injury or disturbance at all. They are back in here, annoying you fellows a little, I guess, this year again. (Applause) But anyway, lo and behold, when the election was all over, even the Souris contest was decided, didn't think it was over te the , and we had various invitations both my colleague and I to join in some of the further activities, political activities, and one thing and another- *»d one day, in blazing with great signs and seals we saw a two decker bus come down into our, we had an invitation honestly, and I was too busy or I would have liked to have enjoyed it. It suggested that the poll chairman in that district, and they are fine fellows those Liberal poll chairman, there is not one of them, but is sot an awfully fine fellow, he sometimes is taken advantage of by people that like to develop their own ego to a greater extent but they are generously fine fellows. But there a two decker bus arrived in our District; oh boy, it was a nice looking thing, one old lady, her eyesight wasn't as good as it used to be, said, "Yen know I wonder what it was all about?" Well, another little old lady had trouble ami she couldn't see those signs on it to and she says "You know I believe it is the Depart¬ ment of Health taking out people from Riverside to see the Confederation train." I know I am not saying, I know that the poll chairman and my colleague has never had any connection with Riverside in any manner, I don't know the other young man at all and I am not suggesting that he had either. But however, this is the letter I received afterward, "and we were disappointed you were unable to accept our invitation to attend the cocktail party." You people over there, those boys are not noted for their philanthropy and it was the Liberal party ones that continued this type of electioneering down in our Second District; perhaps it was, I dont know, and recognition on our ten Liberal poll chairman of Second Kings. I would like to go to a dinner for those poll chairmen; they didn't work too hard against ue I don't think anyway. (Applause) And they have a right to be Liberals. Definitely they have a right to be Liberals, I always like to leave the impression with the people down in Second Kings that I would like to have you vote for me, but after all it is your choice and if you don't feel that you should, that is a privilege we have fought for down through the years, and I don't like to see the names of people dragged up in the Legislature about oats or Dorgans or anybody else. I think this is a dis¬ graceful thing and the Minister of Health, he said it is no trouble to get elected down in Murray Harbour district. No doubt that is why he chose that district and it is unfortunate that he had to drag up the name of a good man possibly in con¬ nection with this because, I am going to get off the subject in just a minute Mr. Minister. Some Member: You are a way off. J. Walter Dingwell : Yes, sure I am having a whale of a time, and perhaps I am not contributing too much, but I am giving you fellows a little fun anyway, but I am going to get down to something serious before I am done and I hope all the Members on that side of the House and this side of the House are in because I have only one point that I want to try and develop in here today and I think it is important to you people as well as this. We had a system down through the years that was not too good for the economy of the farm people, and I remember, I went through it. We would go to our local merchant in the Spring and we would get a few bushels of potatoes or a few bushels of oats and we would plant. We had one fellow down there, I want to tell you about he was called "Two for One in the Fall." The Farmers perhsps did not have seed oats or something and they would go to him, and he was a good man, and they would get a bushel of oats from him, and they would give him back two in the fall. Now I am not trying to indicate that this is the manner in which this man's family fortunes were created at all. I don't believe that, but this man Dorgan came up in a different area. There was provisions made by Government that people could go to agencies of Government and provide on collateral, estab¬ lished needs so that they could support themselves or develop themselves and I do
