Legislative Assembly
be hired I trust the Executive Council would have to give permission to pay him. His salary, no doubt, would be paid from some department of government. Is Industrial En-
terprises paying him ? Some Member: Yes. Leo F. Rossiter: Who votes the money for them ? Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: This Legislature.
Leo F. Rossiter: All right, are you going to bring in an appropriation this year? Or an amendment to it to have his salary deducted?
Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Perhaps we will call him back then. Leo F. Rossiter: Good idea. Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Against industry.
Leo F. Rossiter: You would do far more and you well know it, you would do far better if you had hired a man from this province. There are many men who could do a Public Relations job. Many people could do this and you know that.
Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Would you like to go yourself?
Leo F. Rossiter: You have some neighbours up in Summerside that would love to go.
Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Would you like to go yourself? Is that the trouble?
(Laughter)
Some Member: Sigsworth.
Leo F. Rossiter: Yes Sigsworth, he could go. (Laughter)
Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Yes, he could talk.
Leo F. Rossiter: He could talk that’s all he could do. Perhaps the salary wouldn't be as much as he is getting now from the various departments of Govern- ment. (Applause) This might be why he wouldn’t take the job.
Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: It’s a shame you didn’t spend a little money when you were . . .
Leo F. Rossiter: Mr. Speaker, with regard to the Minister of Golf Courses or whatever he is. “Eighteen hole golf course in Brudenell." I would like to tell the Min- ister that I am wholeheartedly in favour of this project. However, I think he could have sp‘ent the money this year and set his program back for a year, he could have spent t e money to a greater advantage this year and I will refer to that later.
“My Government has established an effective Department of Labour." (Applause) The “Liberal Grannie” also promised a $1.25 an hour. Now Mr. Prem- ier . . .
Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Read it; read it.
Seven] Members: .Read it; read it.
Leo F. Rossiter: Mr. Minister of Labour, where is your $1.25 an hour? Honourable J. Elmer Blanchard: Read the platform, read it.
Several Members: Read it.
Leo F. Rossiter: The Liberal Party also promised $1.25 an hour. Now Mr. Min- ister of Labour, again, coming tonight, is it?
Honourable J. Emer Blanchard: I don’t think it is in the Estimates, Sir. —3l6—
