gest to the Government, to the Premier, that the “beauty contest” is over; let us . get down to work.

I (Applause).

Honourable George J. Ferguson, Minister of Highways and Public Works: (5th Kings) Mr. Speaker, in rising to participate in this debate, my remarks will be brief, as I am sure you are aware we have to go on with legislation later on. However, I would like to congratulate the Provincial Treasurer on the presentation of his Budget. He did as we expected, a remarkable job. He presented a Budget which I am sure the people of the Province are very satisfied with, because he presp ents a picture which in three years time we will get the finances of this Province back on a sound basis. This is very important because I’m sure, Mr. Speaker, you

are aware of the very extravagent spending that was carried on by the former Gov- ernment.

Now, before sitting down, Mr. Speaker, I would suggest to you, that I would not take to heart the remarks of the former Speaker, and the former Provincial Treasurer, because on looking through the record of my remarks last year I find that many of the statements that were made at that time are proven incorrect in the Budget which was presented by the Provincial Treasurer. He was wrong at that

time; I would suggest to you, Sir, that he is wrong tonight. With that. I would move the adjournment of this debate.

(Applause)
