Wednesday, May 10, 1967 geat to the Government, to the Premier, that the "beauty contest" is over; let us get down to work. (Applause). Honourable George J. Ferguson , Minister of Highways and Public Works: (5th Kings) Mr. Speaker , in rising to participate in this debate, my remarks will be brief, as I am sure you are aware we have to go on with legislation later on. However, I would like to congratulate the Provincial Treasurer on the presentation of his Budget. He did as we expected, a remarkable job. He presented a Budget which I am sure the people of the Province are very satisfied with, because he pres¬ ents a picture which in three years time we will get the finances of this Province back on a sound basis. This is very important because I'm sure, Mr. Speaker , you are aware of the very extravagent spending that was carried on by the former Gov ¬ ernment. Now, before sitting down, Mr. Speaker , I would suggest to you, that I would not take to heart the remarks of the former Speaker, and the former Provincial Treasurer, because on looking through the record of my remarks last year I find that many of the statements that were made at that time are proven incorrect in the Budget which was presented by the Provincial Treasurer . He was wrong at that time; I would suggest to you, Sir, that he is wrong tonight With that, I would move the adjournment of this debate. (Applause)
