Legislative Assembly- course, that was let by his predecessor but he finished it in a very commendable way and he eliminated a very dangerous death trap at West Devon , a wonderful improvement on that road. I trust that he will continue right on from West Devon to Day's Corner next summer and complete the road because, for a main highway leading into almost a county of this Province, that piece of road is not a credit to any administration or any Government. Hon . George J. Ferguson : Days Corner , you mean? L. George Dewar : Days Corner to West Devon is what I'm thinking of. Hon . Robert E. Campbell : Would you take part of it? Will you accept part of it? L. George Dewar : I think you should go definitely from West Devon to the Airport at Mount Pleasant and you really should do the piece by the airport at Mount Pleasant because that is a slough every spring. It's really a terrible piece of road and I admit it should have been done years ago and I have asked that it be done years ago but this was before this all-weather highways project got under way and it was difficult to get the money to do it. But the Minister now has no excuse for not going ahead and completing that road and if he's going to give the people of a chance to travel he will do it all up from Day's Corner right up to West Devon . It's not too much that we're asking. We're just asking- for a decent, passable road and I think that should be done. I would also like to thank the Minister of Education for completing, or working on a Senior Citizens' ■Home at Tyne Valley . I think this is a very good project. These are wonderful in¬ stitutions wherever they are built and the people in that area, of course, will ap¬ preciate and utilize that institution. I must also commend him for another com¬ pletion and that is the completion of in Alberton , the home for special care. This is an institution, a wonderful institution and one which is being utilized to the full by the people of at the present time. I was told by the Honourable Member from Alberton yesterday they've only got one bed left in the institution and they've about ten people looking for that. I hope that next year he will provide a similar institution in O'Leary or Tyne Valley and then we'll be able to take cai'e of the demands that come up next year. If he can't devise means of building a home for special care I trust that he will give us more senior citizens' homes because there is great demand for this type of housing on the part of our senior citizens. Hon . Robert E. Campbell : Mr. Speaker , I would like to inform my good friend that we took one of his voters in today and that's the last bed. L. George Dewar : Well, the Good Lord will probably reward you for that. (Laughter) I just want to mention the parks up in that area. We have two very fine parks. I mentioned before. This is one that is very popular in the area and I should also like to mention Cedar at West Point . There are some, of course, who do not think that this is quite an attractive a park in some ways but there is a beauty about it of a different nature and one that people that stay there are very appreciative of. I've been out there to visit people camping and they're all very enthused about the area. There's a wonderful beach and I finally persuaded you to build a bath house there which is much appreciated and I understand that the Government is going to build a kitchen shelter also. Walter R. Shaw : Any mosquitoes? L. George Dewar : The mosquitoes are kept down to a minimum; in fact, I visited a tourist there last summer and I asked him how he liked it here and he said it was a lovely spot and one thing he liked about it was that there weren't any flies. Hon . Alexander B. Campbell : All kinds of mosquitoes but no flies. L. George Dewar : That included mosquitoes. There are no more mosquitoes at West Point than there are at any other point on the Island. Of course, the people, the attendants, do a very good job in helping ease the situation. These sprays are a wonderful help to keep down mosquitoes which are a problem in all —90—
