Thursday, March 7, 1968 Henry W. Wedge: We will see who is the highest here. Walter R. Shaw: Murray Harbour. Henry W. Wedge: The Third District $21,000.

Several Members: (Remarks inaudible).

Henry W. Wedge: Now that is the Minister of Welfare’s District, and the Minister of Health, $21,000.

Walter R. Shaw: Oh no, oh dear, dear!

Henry W. Wedge: I see the Fifth District is $11,000 and another one is $16,000 and $19,000. So I was just wondering whether these poor people should all move to these particular districts? There is something strange about the whole thing.

Walter R. Shaw: Perhaps we should have an explanation now? The Minister of Fisheries has got one ready, providing you write it down.

Henry W. Wedge: I was going to say that you won the prize, that you won the prize.

Hon.sRobert E. Campbell: Just a minute I want to hear this. Were you talking to me, ir?

Henry W. Wedge: You won the honours for having the highest relief in Third Prince and in this Province. (Applause) $35,000.

Walter R. Shaw: Poor fellows!

Henry W. Wedge: You should be complimented by the people of your district for winning this prize.

Hon. Robert E. Campbell: Two good members up there, they look after their people. Henry W. Wedge: Of course, the Third District of Prince, we know it has. . ..

Hon. Robert E. Campbell: No, Sir! Henry W. Wedge: Do they, Mr. Speaker? Walter R. Shaw: No, they get it right out of the pocket.

Henry W. Wedge: And I had another chap that came in, a sickly man under the

Doctor’s care with six children; he had been getting $75.00 a month and they cut him down to $60.00 a month.

Hon. Robert E. Campbell: That’s terrible. That’s terrible.

Henry W. Wedge: Another lady comes in, a bad asthamatic, she was getting $20.00 a month and her husband was a part-time employee under the Unemployment in the wintertime. $20.00 paid for her Doctor and medical bills, it was cut off. Poor

soul was suffering with asthama; we will have to give her some treatment. I will see about that.

Hon. Robert E. Campbell: Send them up to the First District of Prince, and we will look after them.
