The tenting was more prominent last year than other years and an estimated 124,486 persons enjoyed this sort of vacation at the National Parks. Another 42,000 tourists visited private parks. It was estimated that 155,000 persons tented in Prince Edward Island last summer.

The operations, management and development of the Provincial Park system is becoming a tremendous task and along with this operation and maintenance of our present sites the construction of an 18 hole golf course was begun at Brudenell Park, as well as the acquisition and the operation of a ski tow at Brookvale.

Skiing is fast becoming a very prominent form of recreation during the win- ter months.

The Anglo Park was maintained in extra condition during the year, new shel- ters were built and approximately four acres of woodland were improved last fall.

The Jacques Cartier Park was kept in good shape again this year and 200 feet of sea wall was constructed and five acres of woodland improved. (Applause)

Bloomfield Park or Vanier Park, the remainder of the road in this Park was paved and two millstone gateposts were erected.

The Cedar Dunes Park, the attendance increased considerably in Cedar Dunes, due mainly to the new bath—house which was constructed. A new kitchen shelter was built complete with electricity, hot and cold running water, tables and picnic stove, and approximately ten acres of woodland was improved.

Green Park, a new office building was erected and approximately four acres of woodland was improved.

Linkletter Park, this park was well maintained and a new trailer park and office were built as well as a new disposal station.

Cabot Park, this park was handled much better this year and continues to be the most heavily used park in our system. A new office was built.

Strathgartney Park, this park was maintained well this year and a new ser- vice entrance and low lighting were installed and a pay phone was placed in the

office.

Sir Andrew MacPhail Park. This park was maintained during the season as a primitive park. Approximately ten acres of woodland were improved.

Lord Selkirk, this park was maintained and a trailer park and disposal station were added to the facilities this year.

Pinette, this park was kept in a fine condition and a kitchen shelter was con— structed complete with electricity and running water, tables and a picnic stove.

Northumberland Park, this park was acquired and operated by the government this year. A new disposal system was put in and a coin operated laundry, and ap- proximately ten acres of land were improved.

Brudenell Park, this park was maintained and a thousand. feet of pavement was laid. The construction of an 18 hole golf course is progressmg favourably and approximately ten acres of woodland were improved.

Campbell’s Cove, this park is maintained during the summer, and the road in the park was paved.

Panmure Island, this park was maintained and approximately ten acres of land was procured and the road to the Island was paved.
