This is seconded by Mr. Keith Harrington. Mr. Speaker, this concludes my remarks on the Throne Speech. Thank you. (Applause)
Leo F. Rossiter (Second Kings): First, Sir, I wish to congratulate you on yrur re- appointment as Speaker of this House. You have handled this Assembly, last year and this year, very fairly and squarely and I appreciate your co-operation and con- gratulate you. I am glad that we have such a pupil of Cicero among us and that the speech that was read this afternoon and prepared by Mr. Sigsworth and paid
for by the Government. Mr. Speaker, I got the floor, just a moment now, and paid for, paid for by the Government of the Province and a. . ..
Hon. Cecil A. Miller: Mr. Speaker, I will not sit until that gentleman retracts that statement.
Walter R. Shaw: Order.
Leo F. Rossiter: We have secured a copy of last year’s Speech from the Throne and Mr. Speaker. . . .
Hon. Cecil A. Miller: I’ll stake my seat. I’ll stake my seat that nobody assisted me with that communication.
(Remarks Inaudible): Hon. Cecil A. Miller: Just because you don’t like it makes no difference to me.
Leo F. Rossiter: We happened to secure a ocpy of last year’s Speech and there was
all over the speech, Mr. Speaker, all over the speech, Mr. Speaker, was written Mr. Sigsworth’s. .. .I beg your pardon?
Hon. Cecil A. Miller: I ask that he retract that statement. Leo F. Rossiter: What statement?
Hon. Cecil A. Miller: The statement you made.
Leo F. Rossiter: What’s that?
Hon. Cecil A. Miller: You wouldn’t know. You’re not in any shape to know at any time.
Leo F. Rossiter: What are you talking about then? It appears to me that Mr. Sigs- worth wrote his speech. It certainly does. It appeared that Mr. Sigsworth wrote his speech because last year we got a copy of his speech and all over his notes, the notes of the speech, was the Deputy Minister of Fisherie’s memos and Mr. Sigsworth’s memos. All over it. We have a copy of it in our possession. We’ve got a copy of it In our possession. All over it, there was memos and that.
Hon. Cecil A. Miller: I’m asking that you ask that gentleman to retract that state— ment.
Leo F. Rossiter: Mr. Speaker, it appears to me and it does appear to me that he wrote the speech and there’s nothing wrong with that. It appears to me....
Hon. Cecil A. Miller: You made it a statement as a matter of fact.
Leo F. Rossiter: I said it appeared to me and it does appear to me that he wrote
your speech and it also appears to me that the Government pays for it, the making of the speech also.
Hon. Cecil A. Miller: Mr. Speaker, I’m asking you to ask that gentlemen. . ..
Leo F. Rossiter: We have here, Mr. Speaker, we have here Mr. Speaker some copies of some invoices that have been paid by the Dept. of Industry and on the bottom of every one of them is a miscellaneous figure. . ..
Hon. Robert Campbell: Oh, that’s shrimp! (Laughter)
Leo F. Rossiter: . . . .of $50.00 and this, of course is a cover up for writing the speech.
