in lease the one half of the Island who purchased from me the half of my other property in Prince Edward Island- I would be a madman to go all the length I did in Building houses and fences and clearing, if I suspected that I would be removed- I have in Consequence thereof talked and consulted with the ablest lawyers in Edinr and London. Therefore you and Sir James may act as you judge best- I am before you and have furnished Sir James with two copies of his letter 24th Febry,— as he did not seem to keep a copy of his letter about these islands.

I am no ways anxious about the deeds. Sir James may give them or not, as he thinks proper/ he will soon find that he must Confirm what is done. You may therefore act according to your directions-

James Curtis Esq. Poplar Grove Charlotte Town 5th Aug 1807

Dear Sir/

Having lately heard that Mr. Andw Mcdonald had been cutting Timber on Mr. Hodgon’s land at Three Rivers. Mr. Rollings went there and found that there was not only a great deal Cut upon that Land, but also some (what quantity I don’t know) on Lot No 51— belonging to Sir Jam Montgomery and Family- I have given warning to all concerned Expecting Mr. Hodgon by Mr. Rollings but am sorry to tell you that Mr. Mcdonald’s pertinacious continu- ance in Trespassing will oblige us to make him the subject of an Action- How he will justify what he has done on Lot No. 51 I don’t know— but I have thought it necessary to give you this information- I shall by the first oppor- tunity (even if I don’t see or hear from you) request Mr. Cameron to caution all concerned from meddling with Sir J ames’s property under penalty of the Law provided against such trespassor,

Yours truly Peter MacGowan (7)

Mr. Rae was the bearer of the letter I just now received mentioning Lot 51- Which Indeed Mr. Rollings told me of before. I suppose Mr. Rae will hasten to you. I wish your business occasioned you coming to Town,
