Dr Sir
Pray did you hear any word from Sir James Montgomery or his Brother about the lease of St. Andrews twixt Cameron, if so I shall be glad to hear from you— as in the course of a month hence, I mean to take departure for England— I mean to take that front on Lott 51 at the verry head of Montigue River, if you give me good terms, say twenty six years and the long lease, nine hundred and ninety nine years I believe it will be that before any settlers will be there— I only mean to take it mearly for the sake of the Conveniency of the other land that I have on lott 52 which goes to the verry head of the river to lott 51— I suppose the front will not exceed two hundred acres but in this the surveyers will best tell when he goes there will I begg the favour that you will answer this letter— Should this small business abt Lott 51 take place I will have my lease made without fail, may send your answer to the case of Mr. Charles Stewart Charlottetown who will forward all my letters without delay. With respect to Mrs. Curtis From your most obt humbel Sert
Andrew McDonald NB. Say if you confirm the Sale made me of Boughton Island- if not, it is of no consequence, I believe it is dear Enough per acre which was the
agreed price and which is specified in the letter in my possession. Source: PEI Public Archives, Accession No. 2810.
Archibald Macdonald
Archibald MacDonald had a son Joseph, who had a son Aloysius, who lived to be 81 years old on Panmure island. His son Joseph still lives here in a new house across the road. His old house and some land was bought by Dr. Matthew Lewis, a veterinarian from New Hampshire, who plans to retire on Panmure Island many years from now. His wife is Carol, and children are Anne, Jane and William.
They come to Panmure Island in the summer. Joseph has his own plumbing business. The Lewis family have a spaghetti supper for all Panmure Islanders every summer.
