The Macdonalds of Panmure Island 15 Andrew with perhaps the surname being Donald rather than Macdonald. ( Reggie Macdonald - personal communication). Mrs. Watts and Gladys Macdonald both insist that Andrew's father's name was John Macdonald and that he was a merchant in Arisaig, Scotland . After Andrew arrived in the New World, he set up his family at Panmure Island , a few miles south of Point. Andrew suffered various privations including his capture by American privateers in 1812 in a return trip to Scotland , the destruction of the personal home on Panmure Island in 1817, the loss by fire of a branch of the business in (Miramachi) N.B . in 1825, and finally the loss of most of his property to settle a chancery suit shortly after his death on 30 June 1833 at the age of 81. Like many of his descendants, Andrew is buried in the Catholic cemetery in Georgetown . His wife isabella died on 2 July 1840 at the age of 80 years, and is also buried at the Georgetown Catholic Cemetery.
