20 Early Settlers father was in ill health. After executing his father’s will, Hugh led an active life in business, civics and politics. He died Nov. 10, 1947 at the present-day home of his grandson Edwin MacDonald, Panmure Island. His wife, Cath— erine died in 1872 at 77 years of age. Their children were Andrew Archibald born 1829 at Brudenell, died 1912 at Ottawa; Archibald John born 1834; Augustine Colin, born 1837; and Eliza married John A. MacDonell. “Jan 17 1822: Died on Thursday last Ann Isabella, daughter of Hugh MacDonald Esq. of Brudenell Point, Three Rivers, aged 13 months.” Angus Macdonald — Emigrated from Scotland in 1806. On a return trip in 1825 (This is also the year in which his brother died in Scotland) he married at Manor House, Invemesshire Mary MacDonald, third daughter of Archibald MacDonald of Rhue Arisaig Invemesshire, Scotland, and sister of Hugh’s wife Catherine. The children born to Angus and Mary were: Ar- , chibald John, b. 28 July 1828 d. 27 June 1829; Ann b. 4 Mar.; James Emmanuel b. 5 Jan 1842, d. 1 Oct 1903; Matilda J. b. 10 Feb 1844, d. 30 Sept 1866; Mary Jane b. 14 Dec. 1846, died 15 April 1858.
