28 Early Settlers

Richard born August 30, 1882, not married, died March 27, 1965. Charles John born April 3, 1884, not married, died July 18, 1944. Richard Creed was the last of Creed family to die. He was fifteen years of age when his father died, he was willed the old homestead, went to college, earned the degree of Bachelor of Scientific Agriculture. For years he did some farming, worked for the government. The good farm gradually went down in his old days. He got senile and wouldn’t sell the place to any of his next of kin, but to an outsider for the small sum of fifteen hundred dollars. After four generations, the farm passed from the family. Richard died in Montague Hospital and was laid to rest in the family plot in Sturgeon beside his sisters, Maria and Damaris, brother Charles and father and mother.

A history ten times this size could be written, if I could remember all that was told me.

Louis Cantelo

Checking the Island Magazine I find where William Creed, who was the daddy of us all was at Three Rivers in 1770.
