Through information found in researching at many sources, and in particular. the Presbytery records at the United Church archives in Halifax going back to October ll, l82l, the formation of the Prince Edward Island Presbytery, it was found the actual starting date of our congregation was March 2. I847. This makes Zion Church from its roots one hundred and filly years old in I997.

Zion Church annual reports are available from 1897 to date, with parts of a few years missing. These are located in the vault of Zion Presbyterian Church and I thank the Church, Dr. Gordon Matheson and church Administrator, Mrs. Dianne White for affording me the great privilege of viewing these historic documents. Thanks to Harry Holman and staff of the Provincial Archives of P.E.l. and to the Maritime Conference Archives, United Church (Pine Hill) which contain the Minutes of Presbytery.

I want to thank the current Session of Zion Presbyterian Church for encouraging me in this work, and to Anne MacMicken for setting up the page format. No history is ever complete and for those who were omitted, the oversight was not intentional. Please contact me for insertion in further updates.
