On October 3rd, the Prince Edward Island Presbytery received resolutions from five congregation of the Church of Scotland: The People's Church, Charlottetown ; Calvin Church, Lot 48; the Glasgow Road Church; the Nine Mile Creek Church and Canoe Cove Church. Having been accepted by Presbytery , Rev G. Carlyle Webster was appointed Interim-Moderator for the five congregations. The Synod of the Maritime Provinces met in Charlottetown . 1935 On Sunday May 12, the church marked the twenty second year of the new building and the seventy-fifth anniversary of the congregation. The occasion was observed by payment of the balance of the mortgage on the church. The congregation gathered on Friday May 17th of the celebration week during which the burning of the mortgage took place. The congregation is to be congratulated in having met all financial obligations of the church property, just twenty-two years after the present edifice was dedicated. Zion Church had under "it's wing" two extra congregations. The one at Lot 48 has been associated with Zion for a few years. As well The People's Church, which was on , (now where Bowlen's Electronics is now) The People's Church was listed as "Supply" and had P. J. MacDonald as Clerk of Session there. There was six elders, 25 families, and 52 on their communicants role. 1936 Because of the movement of God in our midst resulting in an increase to his flock, by vote of the congregation six new members were added to the Eldership. The Music Committee of Zion Church made recommendations, among which was: That all church organ playing by confined strictly to sacred music only. Admitted to the choir, by Session approval were: Elmer Rice , Bert Fletcher , Lome Sentner , Lome McKay , Jean McDonald , Thelma Dingwell , Olive Partridge , Reg McGregor, Don McLaine and Jack McLennan . 1937 It is to be regretted that there is a falling off of the subscribers to the Scripture Union notes. Private study of the Word of God and the habit of family worship in all the homes will make for a better understanding of the will of God and also better Christian citizenship. The choir has sustained a loss in the departure of Mr. Louis D. Thompson who was Organist and Choir Director for a period of 10 1/2 years. He moved to Ontario. On Wednesday morning May 12, a special Coronation Service was held at Zion Church in honour of the Coronation of their Majesties King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The budget for 1937 was $6,835. . -42-
