A motion was made in Session to take up offering in the choir. 1942 Approximately 170 members and adherents of Zion are now serving in various units throughout the Empire. Notwithstanding the heavy losses sustained by the removal of so many of our young people, the attendance at divine worship has been well maintained throughout the year. Notable among the deaths this year was Elder Moore, and William H. MacDonald , Elder at Calvin Presbyterian Church, Mermaid . Calvin has/or a long lime come under the 'wing' of Zion. 1943 The Session recommended a committee be set up to consider a plan for replacement of the memorial windows in the sanctuary. The number active in the forces of His Majesty the King throughout the Empire stands at over 200. The congregation is urged to change the Act of Incorporation in order to enlarge the board of trustees. The original act called for seven members only. A committee was appointed to arrange to have Elders attend at church doors as people assemble in Sabbath mornings and evenings. Among the new members received into the church by certificate were: Mr. and Mrs. Donald Nicholson , Drookfield from Calvin Presbyterian Church, Maspeth, N.J. 1944 The number of persons connected with Zion church and serving with the Active Forces of the King and Country now stands at 234. The Elders numbers have been increased by seven with the election on July 2, of: Dobson Clark , John A. MacLeod , G. Reginald MacNutt , Fred T. MacRae , Major Upton MacRae , Wendell Phillips and J. Stanley Stavert . An addition of 30 to the fellowship of the church during the year, brings a total of 616 new members during the pastorate of the present minister. ( G. Carlyle Webster has been pastor since 1931) W. M. McMillan and A. A. McDonald were appointed by Presbytery as accessor Elders of Calvin Church. 1945 Victory at last in the most wide-spread war of all time, through the help and guidance of our eternal Father. Mrs. Edwin Johnstone (Wood), Organist and Choir Director, resigned due to illness and was replaced by Helen Stewart as Organist and Mrs. Art (Barbara) Roper as Director of the Choir. The Legislature of Prince Edward Island was petitioned to amend the Act of Incorporation of Zion Presbyterian Church to change the number of Trustees from seven to eleven. • 44-
