On April 2, the following seven new Elders were ordained: Ralph Balderston , John C. Cooke , Earnest A. Cudmore , J. Harry Hill , W. Blair MacDonald , Millar MacFadyen and Robert C. Parent . On July 4, General Assembly approval was received for the purchase of the site of near French River . 1951 The Session deplores the marked tendency in the pursuit of worldly pleasures among those who are communicants of the Church and with kindly solicitude reminds them of their obligations to the Christ who died for (hem. The elders deeply regret that illness has necessitated the removal of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Webster to Toronto , and we pray that special medical skill may soon restore Mr. Webster in his fight against what may well be a serious physical disability. Special mention was made of Senior Elder, Donald McKinnon , who was ordained in May 1907 and since that time has served as Clerk of Session for some thirty-four years, retiring at the end of 1950. Alex. A. MacDonald was appointed Clerk of Session. A fire swept through the city block containing (he Church in (he month of August. Although the Church was spared, considerable redecorating of the upstairs classrooms on the west side as well as the choir room and entrance had to be done due to smoke damage. Lost in the fire were the businesses of Batt and MacRae, and Rankin MacLaine , as well as (he MacLaine house with all contents. In (he summer the curb was removed on the side of the church and the area from the street to the sidewalk was paved, allowing for additional parking spaces. Her Royal Highness , Princess Elizabeth , graciously directed a compliment to Mrs. George Hooper , President of the Zion Auxiliary , regarding her skill at brewing a cup of tea. 40 new members added to the congregation (active roll now 761). 1952 For the first half of the year, due to illness of the pastor, there was no regular pastoral oversight adding to the burden of session in arranging pulpit supply. However, not a single service was missed as (he following among others conducted services: Elders , Alexander A. MacDonald , J.E. Ross MacEwen and Ralph Balderston , Rev. T.H.B. Somers of the Kirk of St James, Rev. Donald Nicholson , Rev Donald Campbell , Dr. Frank MacKinnon , Mr. T.D. DeBlois . In June a student minister, Mr. John Johnston , M.A . of Presbyterian College, Montreal arrived, lightening the Session burden. Rev. G.
