During the illness of Hugh Lowry. Rev. Donald Nicholson was engaged to assist in visitations. Kent Burdett, B.A., M.Div. was ordained in Hartsville on June 22. Average at the four communion services was 632.

I983 A recognition dinner was held for Hugh and Edith Lowry. Mr. Lowry retired from his duties as Assistant to the Minister after l5 years service. David and Lisa Hayward came to the Church, with David as the new Assistant to the Minister. Douglas Wilson of Collingwood, Ontario was the guest speaker for the anniversary speaker.

I984 Forty new communicants were received into the church, 28 by profession of faith.

A van was purchase in the Spring for the transportation of people to the services.

Suzanne MacKinnon retired from Sunday School following over 50 years service. Sue has contributed more in terms of years service to committees or groups than any other individual in recent memory in the long history ofthe church.

I985 The church celebrated the l25th anniversary (based on starting in l860). The Anniversary speaker was Rev. Dr. E. H. Bean of Sydney, Nova Scotia. The Church published a booklet updating the Church history.

The church tower, afler assessment was repaired, with cleaning of the outside brickwork on the upper portion of the tower. New carpet was installed in the Sunday School room, as well as repairs to the folding doors leading to the main sanctuary.

Roger W. MacPhee, B.A., B.Re., M.Div. was ordained into the ministry at Zion on June 25.

Students, from Zion now pursuing studies leading to full-time Christian Service include: Wayne Burke, Brian Gorveatt, Andrew Hutchinson, Jeremy Lowther, Kenneth MacRae, and Austin Scales.

I986 Zion's affiliation with Camp Keir has been in existence for years. This year, on July I l, the old camp building and grounds at French River were sold for $33,000. Plans are under way for a new facility in Canoe Cove on land bought last year (8 acres for S I 8,500.)

An 'every home visitation' was carried out, on the over 900 households connected with the Church, by the elders and their wives and other members of the congregation.

Rev. Bill Isaac was our special guest speaker at the anniversary service.

The Brace Block Trust, set up in the past was this year able to assist twenty four students in the ministry: Presbyterian(9), Baptist(7), United(7) and Central Christian“).
