The Missions Committee of Session, during the year: held the Annual Missionary Conference with Dr. James Zottnick as special speaker, disbursed funds to 24 persons and/or organizations, and had a successful year in the Tape Ministry making 50 some pairs of tapes ofthe sermons to be distributed to shut-ins, and supported the World Vision/Love Loaf Program and our radio ministry Words of Victory.
The Scott Street Manse was sold in June.
199] Stephen Stead (son of Harold & Wilma Stead) was accepted as a student for the Ministry on February l2. Kenneth MacRae (son of Harold & Dorothy MacRae) was licensed and Ordained on June l8. M. Wayne Burke was inducted as Associate Pastor at Zion, on June 27.
On May 12 the Church celebrated the 25th anniversary of the ordination of women in the Church. On May 26 the Church celebrated the l32nd Anniversary with Rev. Cedric Pettigrew of Halifax as guest speaker. Rev. Pettigrew is Moderator of the Atlantic Synod.
The roof on the Church was completely replaced at a cost of $50,000. (costing more than the whole Church cost to build in l9l 1-13)
Not enough emphasis is placed on the ministry of music in the Church. We owe a debt of gratitude to the members of the choir who serve in this capacity Sunday after Sunday - especially to our organist Elizabeth Lang and our choir director Faye Barrett.
The Daily Vacation Bible School under the direction of Doreen Gray was a success this year with 55 students attending.
I992 David Nicolle was hired as youth director replacing Stephen Cousins. David and his wife Lisa are a great help to the youth and young adults of the Church.
Words of Victory, the radio broadcast by Rev. Matheson is heard by some 10,000 listeners every Sunday on Prince Edward Island and north eastern Nova Scotia.
In the Sunday School, Anna Carr retired as Secretary after to years service. The following students had perfect attendance for the l99l-l992 school year: Jonathan Arsenault, Melissa Dawn Adams, Miranda Bowlan, David Burke, Laura Murphy, Suzanne Walker, Scott Stead, Stephen Farquharson, Jennifer LeLacheur, Vaughn Murphy and Daniel Roper. As well 40 had perfect attendance from September - November.
Zion Church Love Loaf campaign raised $|,743.|0, and with the balance left over from last year, was able to provide $1,025.00 to World Vision and s l ,025.00 to Words of Victory.
I993 Rev. Kent Burdett was guest speaker at the Anniversary service on May 30. Dr. Don Scott was quest for the missionary conference in April.
