Murray, Rev. Dr. Isaac Born: Mar 24, 1824 Ordained: Jan 16, 1850 Died: Dec 7, 1906 Dr. Murray was born, Scotsburn, on March 24, 1824. He studied at Pictou Academy, Seminary, and Princeton Seminary, New Jersey , U.S. He was licensed in May 1849 by Pictou Presbytery . He was ordained and inducted on January 16, 1850, into the New London -Cavendish charge, succeeding Rev. John Geddie who went to the New Hebrides. While still a minister in New London , Mr. Murray received the degree of Doctor of Divinity in 1876 from Queens College, Kingston , in recognition of the excellent work he did on Prince Edward Island in the interests of public education. He was Moderator of Synod twice, in 1873 and again in 1892. He was the only minister of Upper Prince Street Presbyterian Church, Charlottetown from November 27, 1878, to 1882(when the congregation disbanded). Dr. Murray accepted a call to New Glasgow , Nova Scotia on September 15,1882, and after a few years there, he went to St. Matthew's, on August 14, 1884. He was minister there for twelve years and, was clerk of Sydney Presbytery for eight years. He resigned on account of ill health on April 14, 1896, and retired to New Glasgow , Nova Scotia , living there until his death December 7, 1906. His Jubilee (50 years in ministry) was held at Cavendish, on January 16, 1900. McGillivray, Rev. J. D. Preacher at Queen Square Church for six months (1861-1862) Born: c. 1838 Ordained: Feb 7, 1865 Died: Feb 28, 1919 Mr McGillivray was born in a manse near New Glasgow , Nova Scotia . He was educated at Seminary, Nova Scotia , licensed by Pictou Presbytery January 26, 1859. He was ordained and inducted in Middle Stewiacke, N.S. February 7, 1865. He moved next to congregations in Newport , N.S. February 14, 1871, and Clifton , N.S. March 1, 1881. He retired June 17, 1895, and died in , , N.S. February 28, 1919. While in Newport , he served as inspector of schools for . 72
