of Doctor of Divinity from Presbyterian College, Montreal. He was appointed Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada in 1906, listing his residence as Pictou. He retired as minister of First Presbyterian Church, Pictou in 1909, following over fifty years in the ministry. lle preached periodically for the next few years and died July 23. I91 I, shortly after preaching in Elmsdale, N. S. His son Robert said "our memory of him is as a good and wise man of great legacy."

His funeral took place in Pictou, Nova Scotia and was attended by every member of as many Nova Scotia Presbyteries who could possibly get away from home. Samuel C. Nash of Charlottetown attended and "witnessed a train full of clergymen." He is buried in Haliburton Cemetery in Pictou.

In the absence of a minister in both the Free Church and Queen Square Church, Thomas Cumming preached alternately to both congregations, during the Winter of 1870-71.

He was born Stellarton, Nova Scotia April 13, 1835, and studied at Presbyterian College, Halifax. He was ordained and inducted over St. John's Church, Halifax November 1863. He demitted in 1866, and spent time travelling, (such as supplying in Charlottetown - both churches). In the Spring of 1871 Dr. Cumming was issued a call from Zion Church, but declined. He was later called to Sharon Presbyterian Church, Stellarton Nova Scotia in 1873, and Montreal in 1883. He returned for induction over St. Andrew's, Truro in 1885 and Scotsburn in 1899. He retired to live in Stellerton in 1908 and died October 8, 1922.

He was moderator of Synod in 1902.
