The question of Union of the Presbyterians, Congregationalists and Methodists was coming to a crossroads (see Appendix). Rev. George Taylor, although opposed by a great many in Session, held firm to his orthodox faith, thus holding the church together. He went outside his own congregation in his efforts to express his views. He addressed many meeting in the Maritlmes and as well addressed the Legislature of Prince Edward Island. At Zion a congregational vote was taken on February 23, I925. The vote was: for Union 2l2, against 300. It was clear the congregation wanted to remain Presbyterian. However as a result of the vote seventeen of the nineteen members of the Session resigned leaving only Donald McKinnon and Murdoch Ross. As well all but one Trustee, Alexander A. MacDonald resigned.

As well as the members of Session and Trustees who lelt, the Church lost its organist, many members of the choir and Sunday School teachers. While the church was disorganized, all the position were soon filled and life went on. While at Zion, Mr. Taylor influenced a number of young men to join the ministry.

A call was extended from Calvin-Westminister Church in Montreal in November, I925. At a meeting of Presbytery on November 26th, many came forward to express their feelings that the removal of Rev. Taylor at such a time in the history of the Church and Zion would not be in the best interest of Zion. Murdoch Ross, Alex MacDonald and John Anderson spoke for Zion, Rev. R. H. Stavert for Presbytery and others ministers, J. F. Profit of Kensington and Wm Montgomery of Lot l4 all spoke of what a loss it would be. The Presbytery left the final decision to Rev. Taylor. He said that while he regretted very much leaving Zion Church and especially parting with the young people, he believed that this was a call from God to a wider sphere of usefulness and that he therefore had decided to accept the call. He preached his last sermon inZion on December 6 and was Inducted as pastor at Calvin-Westminister Church on December l0, I925. Alter a short ministry in that congregation, he was called to Maisonneuve - St. Cuthbert's, Montreal, where he was inducted on June 30., I927.

llis health began to fail. He was a victim of gas during the War and it was taking its toll. He visited Zion in October I93 I , but was too weak to take part in the first service of communion of the new pastor. 0- Carlyle Webster.

His Presbytery granted him six months leave and he went to Bermuda Seeking to build up his strength. He was there only three weeks when he Passed away at the King Edward Hospital, Hamilton on December I6, 1932. His funeral service was held in the Maisonneuve Church on December 24, and was not only attended by members of the Presbytery. but by delegations from several organizations as well. A crowded Church
