Gordon brought great honor to his Church and himself, when the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity was conferred upon him by Presbyterian College on May 13, 1996. In 1996, /ion had the great privilege of hosting the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Canada . This was only the second time the Assembly was held in Canada (the other being Halifax in 1970). In 1997 Gordon was nominated by the Prince Edward Island Presbytery as Moderator of the General Assembly for 1998. In Gordons twenty years at Zion and as of this writing, he has performed 1,400 sermons, 600 baptisms, 592 funerals and 502 marriages. A great number of people have joined the church during this time, with a high percentage by profession of faith. Gordon and Azalia live in Charlottetown , their children and four grand daughters close by. Guy is employed with CFCY in Charlottetown and has one daughter, Angela. Grant is married, has two daughters, Emma and Hannah and is a medical doctor and chief of staff at the regional hospital in Montague, Le7.a in married to Elke Wolters and they have one daughter, Janessa.
