Synod. In 1954 she entered Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey for further study.
She was appointed first Regional Secretary for Christian Education in the Maritimes under the Maritime Synod ofthe Presbyterian Church. In this capacity she visited every Presbytery in the Atlantic Provinces. She conducted training programs for leaders of Young People's and Children's groups and gave leadership to W. M. S. groups. Margaret was in great demand at theme speaker for Young People's conferences.
In 1957, Miss MacDougall was engaged for a three month period in Christian Education work with Zion Church. She is fondly remembered for her work with Children of the Church and C.G.l.T programs.
She was instrumental in fostering and expanding summer camp programs for young people, especially Camp Geddie in Merigomish, Nova Scotia, where the Margaret MacDougall Lodge was named in her honon
Living in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, she crowded a lifetime of service into a few short years and she will be remembered by the multitude of young people whose lives were enriched by her example and her work. She died in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on September 29, 1964.
MARGARET (BALDERSTON) READ
Margaret is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Balderston ofCharlottetown. She was an active member of Zion Church. Margaret graduated from Ewart College, Toronto in April I965. Upon graduation she was employed by the Womens Missionary Society, Western Division, and was appointed to work in the Lakefield, Ontario pastoral charge, as director ofChristian Education. The ministers during her time there were Rev. Lindsay Mclntyre and Rev. Gordon J. Matheson (19654982).
In 1974 Margaret married G. Walter Read. M.A. M.DlV., an industrial engineer, now a minister ofthe Presbyterian Church.
ROMA (RODD) BROWNE . Roma was born in Charlottetown, where she attended Zion Church.
She graduated from Prince of Wales College and taught school for three years before entering Ewart College. While attending Ewart College, she did student work in Shediac and Buctouche, New Brunswick. Before graduation in 1952, she served under the Board of Missions in Sarma, Ontario. After graduation she worked for the World Council of Churches in Alberta for a short time organizing and leading Daily Vacation Bible Schools in that province. Returning to Toronto, she was Congregational Deaconess in what is now Trinity Church. .
In l954 she married in Zion Church, William Browne, a native of Ireland. They have three sons and live in Oakville, Ontario.
