LADIES' AID AND MITE SOCIETY Organized in I882. It's first president was Mrs. David Laird. In I890 Mrs. David Sutherland was elected president. All ladies of the
congregation are members. In January I897 a Ladies' Aid was formed. They raised 3 l60.44 that year.
In June 1904 the Society received permission to place flowers in the sanctuary, and appointed members to take charge of the work each month.
Often called the financial power onion Church.
(From the l92l report) We made our annual visit to the Ladies Aid for funds, with which to pay the interest on the mortgage. They received us with their accustomed genial smiles and rewarded us with all the funds we required. They also assured us that should we require further assistance we would find the latch string on the outside.
ln I9] I, the Ladies Aid presented Lt. Gov. Rogers with a silver trowel for the purpose of laying the Comer Stone for the new church.
LEAGUE OF YOUNG WORSHIPPERS
Organized in I913 by Rev. George C. Taylor, with the intent of bringing children to the church and cultivating in them the church- going habit. The first part of l9l3 showed an average attendance of 56 per Sabbath, and all families are encouraged to bring their children to the sanctuary with them.
MARGARET MACDOUGALL A.M.S.
Formed in I948 under the name Zion Mission Guild, with Shirley (Proud) Brydon as its first President. The late Margaret MacDougall was instrumental in it founding and it was named after her in February I963. She was born in Belle River area, attended Prince of Wales College and taught school on the Island. Miss MacDougall went to Ewart Deaconess College and graduated in 1950. She worked with the Maritime Synod as Secretary and with the Synod's Camp Keddie, where a lodge has been named in her memory. She died in I962.
MENS ASSOCIATION (BROTHERHOOD) In 1946 the following committees were in place: Membership, Visiting, Program, Ways and Means, Song Leaders and Pianist.
