Followers of Rev. Donald McDonald, an ordained Church of Scotland minister, born Jan I, I783. Without sponsorship of any church he set up congregations mainly in Orwell and De Sable as well as scattered throughout the Island. It is said that he probably baptised more children, married more couples, preached more sermons, travelled more miles and built more churches than any other minister in the Dominion. His followers numbered about 5,000.
