TO OUR YOUTH

I dedicate this book to the youth of today

That they may read what the stories say,

About our neighbours in days of old,

Who made life more precious than gold.

Their diet usually contained fish or meat,

Food that was substantial and couldn’t be beat. Their dress code was not always in style,

For their hand me downs had reached many a mile. Life back then had its ups and downs,

But there were more laughs, than there were frowns. They had no radios, phones, or tv’s,

Instead they Visited neighbours, and enjoyed some tea. They sang, danced, and played cards at night,

Even going home with daylight in sight.

Money was not a priority on their list,

They often had none, so it wasn’t missed.

They had little, but were content with what they had, So, the olden days were not so bad.

They passed it down from woman to man,

And we thank our ancestors for this fair land.
