musical, and she loved to play the mouth organ. If they had family gatherings, Pat would supply the music with her mouth organ. Anne says that she does not know how she could get enough air to play this

instrument. It was April 23, 1958, a beautiful Sunday morning, and Pat and

Lennie and children were getting ready for church. Lennie went up stairs to get his tie, and noticed that the wall in the girls’ room was all ablaze. He hurried downstairs, and alerted the other family—members. Everyone managed to exit the house safely, with only the clothes they were wearing. They had no telephone; 50, two of the children ran across the field to call the fire department. The fire fighters came, but were to late too save the house and its contents. There were no benefits or funds to help them rebuild, although the Red Cross was very helpful in providing clothes for them. They were fortunate enough to be able to rent the Daniel Mooney house in the district for awhile. Eventually, they bought a house in Souris, and moved to that community.

Here, they" had to start all over again, obtaining furniture and appliances little by little. With their move, the Hennessey name left with them. There are no Hennessey‘s in Bear River at present.

However Anne, their youngest daughter, is composing a family tree in the form of a quilt. This contains many important dates in the history of their family, and it is certainly a way to preserve their

heritage.
