Interesting Early Minutes of Sterling Women’s Institute
Summerside Journal - January 4, 1922
Sterling (Stanley) Institute held its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Thomas Bolger on December 15. There were ten members present. After the singing of the Ode and the reading and adoption of the minutes of the previous meeting a discussion was held regarding the mak— ing of improvements to the Hope River School and $10.00 was voted for the expenses of this work. $5.00 was voted for a Christmas gift for one of the members who had helped the Institute in many ways. Each year a special treat for the men is given in the form of a banquet. This is to be held on New Year’s Eve at the home of Mrs. A.E. Fyfe. Every member is expected to take part in the programme. After the business of the meeting was concluded a social hour
was spent while the women knitted and lunch was served.
