In addition to the above, the Bell men were responsible for having vessels built at Beech Point, St. Eleanor’s, Campbellton (Lot 5), and Mill River (West)

GEORGE BELL I and JEANETTE (McKNIGHT) BELL had a family of eleven children:

(A). JAMES (1808 - May 30, 1897) - born in Scotland m. NANCY COLE, of Long River. The family lived and farmed on the Mill River Road for a number of years before moving to Long River. They had seven children:

William (Sea Captain) - lived in Springbrook

Jessie - (1839-1843)

Barbara in Robert Gillespie - lived in Long River

Annabella m. John Bernard - lived in Irishtown

Jessie unmarried - lived in Long River

Jasper m. Annie Doughart - lived in Long River. He was responsible for the construction of the soldiers’ monument at the Geddie Memorial Church.

(C). William (1813 - July 19, 1867) born in Scotland m. Mahalia Jane Mowatt d. Dec. 29, 1892) William was a Sea Captain. They moved to St. Eleanor’s.

Marjorie m. Harry Craswell moved to Vancouver, BC. ten children

. Herbert - He is believed to have settled in Washington State.

(D)- John (1817-1909) born in Scotland - He settled in Hope River. He and his family owned a farm, were millers and shipbuilders.

John was twice married m. 1. Amelia MacEwen daughter of John and Mary

(Clark) MacEwen. No family. In. 2. Oct. 20, 1857 to Ellen Simpson (1829 - May 26,

1881) daughter of John and Euphemia (MacNeill) Simpson.
