HANNIFAN In 1832, PATRICK HANNIFAN (Hanifin), a native of the Parish of Anna, county Kerry , Ireland, purchased 83 acres from the Government of Prince Edward Island , for $208.45. This was located on the . The deed is signed by Lt.- Gov. R. Hodgson . Patrick's wife, Margaret, was a native of County Kerry , Ireland. In 1919 Eulalie, Patrick's granddaugh¬ ter sold the farm to Boyce McKie for $5275.00. Two years later the McKIE family moved to Southport and sold the farm to Wallace and Esther MacKay. Wallace and Esther MacKay in turn sold it to their son, CRANFORD , and his wife, MARGARET (ANDERSON), on January 30, 1930. At this time, the original house was torn down and the present one built. (1892-1903) The records for this family are found in the Parish of St. Mary's, Indian River . One would pre¬ sume that the family lived in that area before moving to Stanley Bridge . Members of the family were buried in this cemetery before the farm was bought in Stanley Bridge . Records also indi¬ cate that the Hannifan family owned the property in Stanley Bridge twelve years (1874) before they moved to the area. MACKAY DONALD CRANFORD MacKAY (1903-1970) son of Wallace and Esther MacLean MacKay m. MARGARET ESTELLE ANDERSON (1905-1970) daughter of Robert and Agnes Simpson Anderson , Anderson's Creek, Stanley Bridge . After their marriage, Cranford and "Peggy" moved to the former Hannifan property, which had been purchased by his father and mother in 1921. They built a new home on this farm. In 1963, Peggy and Cranford transferred ownership to their son Robert, and his wife, Marina, who are still owners of this farm. Cranford and "Peggy" had a family of two children. 1. Roma Jean b.
