later purchased a property on the New London Road, formerly owned by Justin Gallant. Harvey was in the fishing business with his father, but for the last five years has worked as a carpenter. They now live in Slemon Park, Summerside. Harvey and Donna have five children.

CARR

ROBERT CARR b. Aug. 24,1954, son of Earl Carr, m. Nov. 6, 1976 to PHYLLIS GALLANT

b. July 23, 1959, daughter of Thomas and Anita Gallant, all residents of the west side of the river.

Robert and Phyllis purchased the home owned by his father Earl, which is familiarly called the

“Dr. Fleming” home. Robert and Phyllis operate Carr’s Lobster Pound, located on the Stanley

Bridge Wharf. This is a popular location for the purchase or selling of various kinds of shellfish. Robert and Phyllis have a family of three children:

1. Suzanne M. b. Jan. 22, 1977. 2. Barbara L. b. Aug. 6, 1981. 3. Bryan R. b. July 18, 1986.

MacKAY

KENNETH ROY b. 1922 fourth child of John S. and Myrtle Cole MacKay, of the Rattenbury Road In. Aug. 17, 1948 to G. AUDREY MacDOUGALL b. 1927, daughter of Wilfred and Dorothy MacDougall, Tyne Valley.

Kenneth is a veteran of W.W.II. He served with the Prince Edward Island Light Horse Artillery Section. He was aboard the troopship Monterey, which was bound for Sicily when the convoy was attacked by German bombers. The troopship, the Santa Elena was struck and later sank. The crew of the Monterey helped in the rescue and saved the lives of all 1,997 persons aboard. This was November 1994.

When Ken returned from Overseas, he and his brother Wendall took over the store in Stanley Bridge. When Wendall’s health failed he left the business. Ken and Audrey operated the MacKay’s General Store west of the Stanley Bridge from 1948 to 1977. In 1961 Audrey and Ken built a new home across the road from the present store on the former Miller Fyfe proper— ty. Kenneth and Audrey retired from the store business in 1977. In that same year they sold the store to Robert and Rosalee Bowness of Fountain Road.
