The Schurmans named their summer retreat after the official bird of Louisiana. Accompanying Joe to Stanley Bridge for the past many summers is his able worker and friend, Gerald G. Venus , a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. Gerald openly expresses his favourable opinion of Prince Edward Island and its people. He feels much at home in Stanley Bridge . He is the father of two adult daughters. George Rankin Schurman [known as Joe] is the son of Benjamin C. and Grace L. Rankin Schurman , of Summerside . Joe was born in , Mass, Jan. 3, 1932. Oct. 8, 1974 MAHONEY The MAHONEY home was situated on property at the junction of Route 6 and Road. This was a lease from Robert Fyfe to Patrick Mahoney . The land reverted to Elmer Fyfe upon the death of David Mahoney . In 1880, the Mahoney family is listed as being residents of Mills. All family members except David moved to the United States.
