JACOB (1861—1942) the son of Joy and Barbara Jardine Best, of Freetown. When Jacob was first married, he and his wife Annie, moved to Malpeque where they farmed for a number of years before moving to Stanley Bridge. Jacob was twice married:

m. 2. Sadie MacDOUGALL of Coleman There were no children from either marriage.

Jacob was a carpenter by trade. He had built a new home in Malpeque as well as one after they moved to Stanley Bridge. He purchased the land from Isaac and Annie Brown on Nov. 13, 1917 for the price of $100.00. The “Best” home was located across from the schoolhouse. The house was sold to Rev. W.I. Green after Mr. Best’s death. Other owners of this home include:

When the GREEN family returned from Trinidad they purchased the large Best home situated across from the schoolhouse. In the community both Mr. and Mrs. Green enjoyed being involved in activities of the young people and ‘not so young’. Rev. Mr. Green was a strong sup- porter for the purchase of school-ground equipment. Mrs. Green chaired many young people’s groups. She was also a member of the Women’s Institute and the Women’s Missionary Society.

WILLIAM I. GREEN (Mar. 26, 1875 - Mar. 21, 1957) formerly of the Graham’s Road and a Missionary to Trinidad, British West Indies, for twenty-one years.
