FYFE FIFE 1. JOHN MacKIE FYFE (July 10, 1904 - Feb. 10, 1966) son of Alfred and Annie Fyfe m. Nov. 21, 1942 - ANNA MARGARET MacDONALD b. Sept. 22, 1922 of Alba Station , . John served during the Second World War with the Prince Edward Island Highlanders. He saw service in Canada , Newfoundland and England , and retired with the title of Corporal . Anna also served with the R.C.A.F from 1940-1944, serving within Canadian bases. Discharged with A.W . 3 at the end of War. John and Anna took over the farm in Stanley Bridge , formerly owned by the Wedlock family [shown as George Garrett in 1880]. They remained here until John was forced to give up farming, due to ill health. After John's death, Anna sold the farm to Gerritt Kuipers , and returned to . One son Murdock MacDonald Fyfe b. Jan. 21, 1947 m. Jan. 21, 1947 - Marie Noella Basque b. Dec. 25, 1945 Murdock is an Accountant and is employed with the Unemployment Insurance Commission in Amherst, N.S. They have one son, Drew, who is a member of the Ontario Police Force. KUIPERS Gerritt Kuipers (Apr. 23, 1928 - Dec. 12, 1993) Gerritt was born in the Netherlands. After sur¬ viving the Second World War, Gerritt enlisted in 1948 with the Dutch Army where he trained for the Police Corps. In March 1949 he was part of a Contingent which was sent to Indonesia to participate in the Dutch Indonesian War. Shortly after landing Gerritt was wounded and hospi¬ talized. Prior to leaving to return to Holland he was decorated for his services. On April 18, 1952, Gerritt left Rotterdam, Holland for Canada . Nine days later he landed in Halifax, N.S. He arrived in Prince Edward Island and began farm work in Charlottetown . He arrived at the home of Lome and Jean MacEwen in Stanley Bridge on February 11, 1953. By 1959 Gerritt was working for John Fyfe and purchased the farm from Mrs. Anna Fyfe in 1996. Gerritt 's home was destroyed by fire during the night of Dec. 13, 1991. At this time Gerritt was badly burned and narrowly escaped with his life. He was hospitalized for about three months recovering from the accident. After Gerritt 's death, the area around the buildings and some land was sold to Patrick Hughes . The remainder of the land was sold to Dana Jorgenson and William Cousins . Gerritt had become a Canadian citizen on November 5, 1965. Gerritt never married. He loved to sing and was a faithful member of the Stanley Bridge United Church choir. He is buried in the Cavendish Cemetery . WEEKS WILLIAM WEEKS and his wife CHARLOTTE COUSINS lived at the junction of Rt . #224 and the . May 26, 1959 son of Brendan and Louise Carr Reid. Garth lives on a four acre piece of land deeded to him in May 1986 by his parents. His property is on the North side of the New London Road in Stanley Bridge . He is employed with Toombs Plumbing & Heating Ltd. He has one son, COLIN ROY PETERS b. July 22, 1988. 348
