MOFFATT

ROBERT ERIC MOFFATT b. 1944, son of Roy Grant and Bessie Agnes Viola MacDougall Moffatt of Glace Bay, NS, m. 1966 MARY KAREN ROSS b. 1941 daughter of Walter Gordon and Thelma Iris Holmes Ross, of Glace Bay, NS.

In 1990, the Moffatt family purchased four lots on the Rattenbury Road, known as Bayberry Hill. From 1964 to 1997 Mr. Moffatt has been a Superintendent with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. His wife is a Registered Nurse. The family spends part of the year in their home in Stanley Bridge and the remainder of the year in Charlottetown.

They have two children:

1. Susan Dianne b. 1967 Doctor of Medicine Susan has studied at McGill University, Dalhousie University and Cambridge University, England

2. Ross Grant b. 1971 Ross has attended UPEI, St. Mary’s University Halifax, He is presently in Calgary, Alberta

SQUAREBRIGGS

JOHN SQUAREBRIGGS b. 1828, second child of Henry and Catherine Squarebriggs, In. Feb. 10, 1858 to AGNES BIGGAR.

John and his family were responsible for the Squarebriggs farming business on the Rattenbury Road. The 50 acre farm was purchased by Henry Squarebriggs Sr. on Nov. 20, 1866, from William McKay and John Sutherland. John and his wife purchased it from Henry and Catherine Squarebriggs on Dec. 10, 1869 for 31 pounds Sterling. After the land became part of John’s fam- ily, records state that “John and Agnes Squarebriggs were now considered to be neither free- holder or tenant”. This family sold the property to the Ferridge family and moved to Red House, Boston area, MA, USA.

In the 1861 Census the name John Ferrage is listed in this area. John Ferris (sp.) is recorded as having purchased 50 acres in Lot 22 from the Government of Prince Edward Island on July 18, 1883. Presumably this is one parcel of the farm owned by Wallace and 1118 family. {Liber 3
