GAUDET
LESTER and FLORENCE GAUDET purchased property and built a new home in 1982 on the former John Sutherland later Wallace Ferrish property on the left side of the Glynde Road. This was later owned by Neil MacLeod of Summerside, who sold the land to the Gaudet family. Unfortunately, both Lester and his wife Florence were killed in a highway accident at Summerfield, on Jan. 15, 1994. The property is now owned by their daughter, Mary Ellen, who
is a school teacher in Western Canada.
Lester enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940. After returning from the War, he worked with Gulf Oil Ltd. This meant that he left Prince Edward Island and resided in Quebec until he retired. Lester married Florence Dalton in 1948. While in Quebec, Florence worked in the business office of Eaton’s in Montreal for many years. Florence was an avid collector of antiques and delighted in travelling to the various shops and selecting that elusive collector’s
item, which she used to decorate their new home.
