EDWARD MACEWEN AND ARABELLA BROWN MACEWEN HOMESTEAD Edward MacEwen born in St. Ann 's Parish in 1847, married Arabella Brown . They were married on February 25, 1884, in St. Ann 's Church, Hope River , by Rev. R.P. MacPhee . The witnesses were James Harrington and Emily Leard . They possessed a small acreage and home on the opposite side of the from that of John and Agnes McGuigan. They had the following children: John Edward MacEwen born in 1906, died in Summerside and was buried in South Granville in October 1985. Other children in the family were: Austin, James, Virden, Daniel, Lucy; Lucy married Hedley Wigmore ; Ethel; Ethel married Gary Thompson, Margaret, Mary and Elizabeth Jane, and Ray. After Edward's death, Arabella lived with Ray in South Granville . John Edward MacEwen and his brother-in-law, Hedley Wigmore , worked during their whole lives for farmers. John Edward was especially devoted to John Thomas Reid of the . John Thomas and Margaret treated him as family. JOHN REID Jr. (July 12, 1848-Apr. 14, 1901) son of John and Margaret Kent Reid m. July 25, 1881 to BRIDGET MCGUIGAN (1858-Jan. 28, 1914) daughter of Michael and Catherine Murphy McGuigan . John Reid farmed a 100 acre piece of land on the located adja¬ cent to John McGuigan 's property. He purchased two fifty acres parcels of land in 1877. One of the fifty acres had been leased to his father John Reid Sr. from Sir Lawrence Sullivan in 1840. John Jr . paid $22.00 at the time of purchase and paid the remaining $88.00 in the next ten years. John built a lovely large home on this property. Together he and Bridget had 10 chil¬ dren. (1.) Wilbert Wendall (Jan. 30, 1891 - Dec. 15, 1980) - m. Lillian Caswell . They lived in Regina, Sask. (7.) John Thomas (Jan. 17, 1893-Dec. 16, 1975) (8.) Alice Marion (June 19, 1895 -Aug. 12, 1987) - m. Fred Sauer . They lived in Regina, Sask. (9.) Mary Ellen (Apr. 2, 1897 - Mar. 30, 1975) - m. John O'Connor . They lived in St. Ann's and moved to Parkdale in 1956. They had four boys: Jeremiah, John, Vernon, Lome. (10.)
