Lea was born on the original home- stead property settled by John Reid in 1838. He was a enterprising farmer having introduced some modern machinery to the area. A lung condition in 1971 prevented further active farming. He trained as a machinist and worked at this trade for some years. Marion was a teacher, home- maker, and in public life, a politician and the Queen’s Representative as Lieutenant Governor from 1990 to 1995. Marion’s parents are Loretta Whelan (1896-1980) and Michael Doyle

Robert Arnold Reid (May 28, 1925 — May 22, 1970), son of Leander Reid and Florrie Turner Reid, lived on the homestead property where he farmed with his father. Robert graduated from St. Dunstan’s University in 1949 and taught school. In 1950 he moved with his parents to Canada Simpson’s property and in 1960 he moved to West Royalty.
