In the 1901 census, SIMON, SARAH BROWN and CATHERINE were living on this 50 acre property, which extends from the bank of Hope River, across the Hope River Road to the New London Road. Simon Delaney bought this property from John Dickieson and Walter Reid bought this property from Simon Delaney in 1923. This became part of Brendan Reid’s farm and is presently owned by MacEwen Farms Ltd.
McGUIGAN
JOHN FREDERICK McGUIGAN (Dec. 2, 1889 - July 1, 1969) m. Oct. 13, 1914 to MARY LAVINA DOUCET (Dec. 3, 1890 — Apr. 17, 1968). Fred McGuigan was born in Victoria, PEI. He and his wife moved to Hope River, where they farmed. They left Hope River in 1937 and moved to Southport where Fred worked for Department of Transport on the C.G.S. Sorrel and C.G.S. Brant. They had a family of thirteen children:

James Vernon (May 10, 1921 — 1966).
m Cecilia b. Oct. 7, 1922 m. on Feb. 24, 1960 to Joseph MacPherson of
Southport.
6. WMary (May 3, 1924 - 1969).

WALTER LINUS son of James Reid Sr. and Mary Murphy Reid m. Jan. 2, 1924 to MARY
(MAY) ELLEN CULLEN (Sept. 30, 1893 - Sept. 11, 1996), daughter of John and Mary Landrigan Cullen. Walter’s property ran adjacent to the James Reid farm in BayView. By 1917, the Simon Delaney property was purchased to which Walter hauled the house in 1922. From 1920—1938, he made other small land purchases in the immediate area. His wife, May,
was a teacher and homemaker. Walter and May had seven children:
(1.) James Norbert b. May 5, 1925 m. Margaret Mohns. Norbert and Margaret lived in Pembroke and Toronto, ON and have two children: James Brendan and Brenda Anne. He presently lives with his second wife, Ellen Hill, in Barrie, ON.
