Jemima b. 1874 {for further information on Alexander Pickering II and III refer to the Section on the Thomas and Margaret Bolger Homestead - .} WILLIAM PICKERING II (1792-1838) was the fourth son of William I and Janet Anderson Pickering . William Pickering II is not believed to have married. He died at age 46. Tradition had it that he drowned. However, in the death notice of the Royal Gazette it mentions that William died in Charlottetown . William was by trade a shipwright. An agreement between William Pickering II and his father was drawn up in 1832, whereby William II would receive all his father's land after the latter's death. Personal relations obvi¬ ously deteriorated, for in his will of 1823, William I revokes this earlier agreement. He states that his son, William, did not improve the land, as agreed upon, but "on the contrary, did mis¬ manage and abandon the said farm, and did ever maltreat and offer violence to my person with¬ in my own dwelling house." William II apparently fell out of his father's good graces but it is too long ago to know who, if either, was at fault. PICKERING JAMES PICKERING (1788-1849) second son of William I and Janet Anderson Pickering was born on Sept. 27, 1788. He married his first cousin, Margaret (Peggy) Marks. The Clinton Pickerings are descended from James and Peggy Pickering. James was a farmer and a mariner. Many boats were built on the and jointly owned by the Anderson family. James is listed as a builder of at least two vessels - the Henry Carmen - a 33 T schooner, and the Mary - a 109 T. brigantine. James and his wife are buried in the New London People's Cemetery . The names of their children are: Mary, Rebecca, William III , Jane, David, Anthony, and Margaret. PICKERING WILLIAM III (1819 - Oct. 16, 1887) son of James and Margaret Marks Pickering of Clinton.
