MALONE
MATTHIAS MALONE (Aug. 17, 1906 — June 8, 1977) m. in North Sydney in Jan. 1932 to MILDRED CHAPMAN (1910-1961). Matthias, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Malone, was born in Millvale, PEI. When he returned, Matthias and Millie bought the Harrington property in BayView from D’Arcy Fleming. STEVENSON
Melville Arthur Stevenson m. Winnifred Victoria Hayter b. 1923. Melville is the son of Dr. Burdett Stevenson and Alberta Bradshaw of New Glasgow, PEI. Winnifred is the daughter of Joseph W. and Alva Moore Hayter. The Stevensons bought a sizeable acreage adjacent to the Ireta Sutherland property in BayView from Matthias Malone in 1965. It seems that Mr. Malone was reluctant to sell a piece of his land but Melville’s family name was in his favour. His father was the well known Dr. Stevenson and Matthias greatly respected the doctor.
The Stevensons built their home on this property and beginning in 1975 and over the next few years three cottages were built (Stevenson’s Cottages). Winnifred worked as a school teacher with the City School Board and Melville worked as a clerk with D.N.D. Today they operate Stevenson’s Cottages. Melville Stevenson died in September 1997 and is buried in New
Glasgow Cemetery.
Adjacent to the Stevenson land is a 20 acre lot belonging to Morris Caseley.
