Stories : 1923-1926 83 Women Triumph "An interesting game of hockey was staged in the Georgetown Arena on Monday, Feb. 1st, when the ladies' Alert team of Montague crossed sticks with the Vies Sisters of Georgetown . The home team emerged victorious by a score of 6 to I. G. S. Johnson handled the whistle to the satisfaction of both teams. This was the first ladies' hockey staged in Kings County for at least twenty years. After the match the Vies Sisters served a most enjoyable lunch to the visiting team and friends after which dancing was the chief attraction until the early hours of the morning. The line up for the Vies Sisters was as follows: Goal: K. Martell (Stonewall); R. Defense : E. Knight (Rock of Gibraltar); L. Defense : Marjory McDonald (Thunderbolt); Centre: Bessie Lavers (Mighty); R. Wing : Doris Skinner (Speedy Pete); L. There are over one hundred boats and over 200 persons employed at the present time.
