D. At Georgetown, on Mar. 16th, Wallace W. Jenkins, aged 58. He was a native of Pownal but resided in Georgetown since boyhood. He conducteda general store and had controlling shares in several lobster packing plants which amalgamated to form Eastern Canneries in which he was a large shareholder. He was a horse fancier and promoter of public racing at the Georgetown track. He served as town councilor and mayor of Georgetown. He was several times liberal candidate for 5th Kings but never elected. His first wife was Sarah Fairchild. After her death he married Miss Alice Tapper. He leaves to mourn besides his widow, Annie, Nellie and Frederic in the US. A.; Arthur, Louise, Reginald and Gordon in Georgetown; also a sister in Georgetown, Mrs. Thomas Lavers. A daughter Mrs. Thomas Parker died last December. Interment in the Church of England cemetery aftera Masonic service. (From Guardian, Mar. 19, 22, & 27, 1919)
