He conducted a general store and had controlling shares in several lobster packing plants which amalgamated to form in which he was a large shareholder. He was a horse fancier and promoter of public racing at the Georgetown track. He served as town councilor and mayor of Georgetown . He was several times liberal candidate for 5th Kings but never elected. His first wife was Sarah Fairchild . After her death he married Miss Alice Tapper . He leaves to mourn besides his widow, Annie, Nellie and Frederic in the U.S. A .; Arthur, Louise, Reginald and Gordon in Georgetown ; also a sister in Georgetown , Mrs. Thomas Lavers .
